A New Accessible Parking Permit Scheme Is Coming To Wyndham

Wyndham City Council introduced a new online application process for residents requiring Accessible Parking Permits (APP).

From 22 March 2021, the State Government has created a new online application service for those residents and organisations who require a new permit or need to renew or replace a permit.

The new APP Scheme will streamline the application process, making it easier, simpler and more consistent across the state.

The council has made multiple improvements to the permit scheme. Some modifications to the scheme include the introduction of temporary permits for 6, 12 or 24 months, increased permit length, from 3 years to 5 years for individuals and the introduction of permanent disability classification, so reassessments are not required for some people’s future permit renewals.

Double Time (green permits) will continue under the new scheme. These permits allow people with limited mobility additional time to park for double the time in a regular parking space.

*NB: All Wyndham disability permits remain valid until their expiry date, and permit holders are not required to do anything until it’s time to renew their permit.

After residents completing the application, they can choose either to have the permit mailed out or pick it up from the Wyndham Civic Centre.

Suppose residents do not have internet access or physically can’t complete an online application. In that case, they can ask their carer, family, a friend or GP to assist. Council customer service teams can also help the residents if they require assistance or have no internet access.

Paper applications are available from our council customer service centres if needed. Still, the online process provides a faster outcome.
