Western Sydney Emerges as Global Hub for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation

Western Sydney is fast becoming a centre of advanced manufacturing excellence, thanks to a new partnership between the Bradfield Development Authority and Japanese automation leader OMRON.

A newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations will see the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) at Bradfield City Centre join forces with OMRON’s international network of Proof of Concept Centres. This collaboration aims to drive innovation, technology sharing, and productivity gains across Western Sydney’s rapidly growing manufacturing industry.

OMRON is a global leader in industrial automation, specialising in technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Its expertise will support manufacturers in Western Sydney through joint research, advanced training, and demonstrations of new technologies.

The AMRF is a key feature of Bradfield City Centre—Australia’s first new city in 100 years—designed to support high-tech industries and deliver state-of-the-art equipment and training for local manufacturers. The partnership with OMRON will enable local businesses to adopt advanced technologies, upskill their workforces, and scale operations for global competitiveness.

This initiative reinforces Western Sydney’s transformation into a globally recognised innovation district, attracting investment and providing highly skilled job opportunities close to home.
