Enhanced on-demand transport launched in Toowoomba

Toowoomba's new On-Demand Transport (ODT) public transport service launches this week, replacing the current Kan-go service and providing improved access to Toowoomba's wider public transport network.

The introduction of ODT is a significant change to Toowoomba's public transport system and aims to create a seamless customer experience and encourage increased use of public transport.

The dedicated ODT service promises simplicity, greater route flexibility and improved on-time performance, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Toowoomba was an early adopter of responsive services with the introduction of Kan-go in 2005, and is now embracing the evolution of on-demand services in line with advances in ride-sharing applications.

Bookings for the ODT service can be made conveniently via the Translink On-Demand app, by phone or online, giving customers flexibility and easy management of their bookings, as well as real-time notifications.

While key locations will have fixed pick-up and drop-off points, other pick-up points within the roam zone can vary, giving customers greater convenience and choice without being tied to fixed bus stops or signage.

The flexible approach aims to make public transport more accessible by picking up customers close to where they booked, rather than requiring them to travel to the nearest bus stop.

Customers with accessibility needs can specify their requirements in their Translink On-Demand app profile.
