New services on the ServiceWA app to keep the community safe

  • ServiceWA app continues to expand to include three new services

With a focus on boosting community safety during the summer season, the ServiceWA app has now been updated to include three new services, taking another step towards redefining how Western Australians interact digitally with government services.

The new services include:

  • SharkSmart - links users to the SharkSmart website with latest shark advice warnings
  • Weather Stations - provides timely, relevant and local weather data for rural producers to help them make informed decisions, including air temperature, rainfall, wind speed and soil conditions
  • Emergency WA bushfire warning notifications - sends bushfire warning notifications based on a user's current location.

The ServiceWA app was launched earlier this year to assist with WA's COVID-19 response and Safe Transition phase, and has since evolved into a whole-of-government channel with more services to be added in coming months.

Upcoming releases of the app will include the Unclaimed Money Register for users to check if they are owed money from WA organisations or government agencies for items like rental bond refunds, dividend payments and overpayments of utility bills, and the Department of Transport's vehicle look up services, allowing a user to find out when their vehicle registration is approaching renewal.

Over 1.4 million Western Australians have downloaded the ServiceWA app and the FuelWatch service, which was added to the app back in June, has been used over 400,000 times.
