Legal Aid NSW has introduced a new client portal that simplifies the way clients access legal services. The $1.6 million initiative aims to provide a streamlined, digital one-stop platform that delivers real-time updates, direct notifications about case progress, and easy document uploads. Clients can also access important information on preparing for court appearances and legal appointments through the portal.
Optimized for mobile devices, the portal is particularly beneficial for clients who lack access to a computer or have unstable or non-permanent addresses. It allows users to take photos of documents using their phones and upload them directly to the platform, reducing the need for phone calls to Legal Aid NSW and ensuring clients are kept informed with minimal effort.
The new portal is expected to enhance the efficiency of legal aid services, particularly in regional and rural areas, where 35% of services were provided in 2022/2023. This digital solution will reduce barriers to accessing legal assistance, ensuring that people across NSW, regardless of location, can engage with their legal matters more easily.
The portal is scheduled to be fully operational by late 2025. For more information about the Digital Restart Fund and this initiative, visit Digital Restart Fund.
