The Government has announced additional financial support as part of an ongoing initiative to improve the affordability of electric vehicles (EVs) for Queenslanders.
Today's announcement introduces new eligibility criteria and an increased rebate for the Zero Emission Vehicle Rebate Scheme, with eligible households potentially receiving a $6,000 rebate on the purchase of a new EV.
These updated measures, which will initially be introduced on 1 July 2022, aim to widen accessibility and allow more Queenslanders and businesses to explore a diverse range of EVs at more competitive prices than ever before.
Key changes include:
- Doubling the rebate from $3,000 to $6,000 for eligible households with a total gross household income of up to $180,000 per annum.
- Offering a reassessment and additional payment of $3,000 rebate (totalling $6,000 per eligible application) to applicants who previously received the $3,000 rebate under the original scheme and fall within the income threshold.
- Increase the eligibility threshold for vehicles, excluding dealer delivery charges from the determination of 'dutiable value', from $58,000 to $68,000 (including GST).
