Western Power Launches State-of-the-Art Energy Hub in Perth

Western Power recently unveiled its new $123 million Energy Hub in Forrestdale, representing a significant investment in Perth's energy infrastructure. Designed to meet the city's evolving energy needs, this state-of-the-art facility signals a significant step forward in meeting Western Australia's growing energy demands.

Built by ADCO and designed by SPH Architects, the South Metro Depot in Forrestdale serves as a central hub for energy operations, consolidating various depots scattered across Perth. This consolidation aims to improve operational efficiency and streamline services to the community.

Named 'Boyli Mia', meaning 'power house', in collaboration with local Noongar and Ballardong elders, the facility pays homage to Indigenous culture. It features stunning Aboriginal artwork by Bradley Kickett and Buffie Corunna, creating a space that celebrates cultural heritage.

With approximately 850 employees and a capacity of 500 vehicles, Boyli Mia is equipped with modern workshops and laboratories. These facilities enable the delivery of a wide range of services, while providing employees with state-of-the-art facilities to support their work.

Boyli Mia incorporates sustainable elements into its design, including 10,000 square metres of solar panels and 34 electric vehicle charging stations. This commitment to sustainability aligns with Western Power's goal of reducing energy consumption and promoting environmental stewardship.

In addition, the hub features a one-megawatt battery energy storage system, which increases energy reliability while further reducing environmental impact. This integration of sustainable technologies underscores Western Power's commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship in the energy sector.
