Science Week 2024 Celebrates Innovation and Discovery Across NSW

Science Week 2024 is set to engage communities across New South Wales, offering a wide range of exciting activities for all ages. Running from September 10 to 19, this year’s Science Week will bring hands-on science experiences, workshops, and demonstrations to locations across the state, from Wagga Wagga to Byron Bay.

The theme for this year, "Species Survival – more than just sustainability," highlights the scientific efforts needed to safeguard ecosystems worldwide. Events include astronomy evenings, slime-making workshops, robotics labs, and much more, designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators.

The official launch took place at Western Sydney University’s Campbelltown Rotary Observatory, where local scientists showcased the incredible variety of activities planned, spanning schools, workplaces, cultural institutions, and community groups. Large community events are set for Western Sydney Parklands and the Australian Botanic Garden at Mount Annan, expecting to draw crowds of up to 10,000 people.

In addition to community activities, schools across NSW will utilize specially produced teaching resources to explore scientific topics and foster deeper engagement with students, helping them connect with current issues in sustainability and innovation.
