Innovation in Victoria's agricultural sector is getting a boost with new support for technology start-ups developing advanced solutions to improve farm efficiency and address emerging industry challenges.
The AgTech Grants program now offers $1 million in funding for start-ups, with grants of up to $50,000 available to support business development. This initiative, in partnership with LaunchVic, provides founders with expert mentoring to help grow their businesses and create new jobs, driving economic growth in Victoria.
The agricultural sector is vital to Victoria's economy and faces ongoing challenges that require constant adaptation. Agtech startups are key to this evolution, providing tools, data and insights that can significantly improve productivity and sustainability for farmers.
Since its launch in 2023, the AgTech Grants Programme has funded 19 startups working on innovations such as supply chain efficiency, farm automation, soil sensing and pollination management. Building on the success of the first round, this additional $1 million investment will continue to support technological advancements in the sector.
One notable recipient from the first round, Drone-Hand, has developed an AI-powered automated flight application for livestock monitoring, demonstrating the programme's impact on advancing agricultural technology.
The AgTech Grants programme is open for applications until 30 June 2025 or until funds are exhausted. For more information on previous grant recipients and to apply, visit the LaunchVic website or agriculture.vic.gov.au/AgRIN.
