A new digital platform, ecoBiz, is set to help small and medium-sized businesses in Queensland reduce their energy, water, and waste costs. The ecoBiz program, available at no charge to businesses with fewer than 200 full-time employees, offers a range of practical tools designed to support sustainability, reduce emissions, and improve the economic viability of businesses.
With a budget of $10.3 million over three years, funded by the state’s Recycling and Jobs Fund, the ecoBiz platform provides small businesses with tailored guidance on how to optimize energy consumption, minimize waste, and conserve water. The platform has already shown significant results, with businesses reporting average savings of 20% in energy use, 33% in water usage, and nearly 50% in waste reduction, resulting in substantial cost savings.
In addition to providing environmental benefits, the ecoBiz initiative supports Queensland’s broader economic goals. Independent analysis by Deloitte has highlighted that Queensland’s target to reduce emissions by 75% by 2050 could unlock a $430 billion economic opportunity, including $270 billion in new investments and the creation of 145,000 jobs.
Businesses interested in participating in the program can find more information on the Business Chamber Queensland website: ecoBiz.
