Western Australia is launching a new initiative to help food and beverage businesses reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency. The Energy Snapshot study will map emissions across the sector and support companies in managing their carbon footprint.
The program includes a voluntary survey for WA food and beverage manufacturers. Businesses that take part will receive a confidential emissions benchmark report. This report can guide their emissions management strategies and help set reduction goals.
Thirty participants will receive a comprehensive report with professional advice. Twenty others will receive a ‘lite’ version showing their direct and indirect carbon emissions. These reports are valued at several thousand dollars in the commercial market.
The study will provide data to support economic growth, innovation, and sector resilience. Insights from the research will inform programs and policies that promote sustainability and investment in green technologies.
The initiative will help WA businesses remain competitive nationally and internationally. It also supports local manufacturing and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Applications for the Energy Snapshot reports close on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. For more information and to participate, visit www.dpird.wa.gov.au/fbenergyefficiency.
