A new round of Engaging Science Grants has been launched to inspire Queenslanders to explore science and technology in their everyday lives. The program offers up to $25,000 per project to support initiatives that promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning and careers.
Schools, community groups, and research organisations are invited to apply. Projects that combine science with nature-based tourism are strongly encouraged, reflecting Queensland’s growing reputation as a leader in ecotourism and environmental innovation.
The grants aim to connect scientists with the wider community. They will help people understand how science shapes health, the environment, and the economy.
Queensland Chief Scientist Professor Kerrie Wilson said the program encourages curiosity and creativity. She said it helps young people see how science can lead to exciting futures and strong industries.
Past recipients have used the funding to take science outreach to regional areas. Projects have included school visits, hands-on workshops, and community events that make science fun and accessible.
Applications for the latest round of Engaging Science Grants are now open and close on 22 September 2025.
