Electric vehicle (EV) drivers across New South Wales will soon benefit from significantly improved access to charging infrastructure, with 246 new fast and ultra-fast EV chargers set to be installed in 38 suburbs.
Backed by $16.1 million in government funding and $25.1 million in private sector contributions, this $41.2 million rollout will expand the state’s EV charging network and help reduce range anxiety. All chargers will be powered by renewable energy.
These new stations will dramatically reduce charging times, with fast and ultra-fast chargers capable of recharging EV batteries from 10% to 80% in just 10 to 15 minutes. Many will include pull-through bays for vehicles towing caravans or trailers and accessible charging facilities for drivers with a disability.
Five companies have been selected to deliver the chargers: BP, Energy Australia, Plus ES, Tesla, and NRMA.
The chargers will be installed in the following suburbs:
Ashfield, Balgowlah, Bega, Belrose, Breakfast Point, Campsie, Gladesville, Dubbo, Eastlakes, Gregory Hills, Gymea, Homebush, Jerrabomberra, Jindabyne, Kensington, Killara, Leichhardt, Lidcombe, Macksville, Mascot, Mosman, Mudgee, Northbridge, Ourimbah, Parramatta, Picton, Queanbeyan, Robin Hill, Singleton, Smithfield, Strathfield, Sydney, Sydney Olympic Park, Taren Point, Willow Tree, Tuggerah, Warrawong, and Wentworthville.
This expansion is a key part of NSW’s strategy to support electric vehicle adoption, reduce transport emissions, and help households and businesses cut costs.
A free electric vehicle community event will be held at Engadine Town Square on Saturday, 24 May, offering EV showcases, charging workshops, and family-friendly activities.
