New Recruits Power Up WA’s Energy Future

Western Power has welcomed 33 new apprentices, trainees, and recent university graduates into its workforce. The new hires have completed the organisation’s nationally accredited training program, which prepares workers for roles across Western Australia’s growing energy sector.

The group includes apprentices who have gained hands-on experience over four years, school-based trainees who completed a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology, and graduates who finished three-year rotation programs in the energy industry. Business trainees also completed one-year programs focused on administrative and operational support.

Western Power’s training program, delivered in partnership with registered training organisations, provides specialist skills in electrical systems, linework, cable jointing, and heavy mechanical work. These skills are essential for maintaining and developing the State’s power network.

Apprentices and trainees for next year’s intake are now being recruited. Successful candidates will begin training in January 2025.

The program continues to create opportunities for young people to build careers in energy, supporting the development of skilled workers who will help shape the future of Western Australia’s power system.
