A new program has been launched to help small businesses in regional Queensland grow, improve their skills and create new economic opportunities.
The Regional Business Gateways program will provide funding of up to $600,000 for each approved initiative. The program aims to strengthen local industries, improve business capability and support long-term regional development.
The program will support eligible business groups, industry organisations, community organisations and councils to identify challenges and opportunities for small businesses in their regions.
Successful projects will work with local communities to provide practical support. This may include helping businesses connect with supply chains, access new markets, improve operations and develop stronger networks.
The first funding round has up to $4 million available for community-led projects across regional Queensland. Eligible applicants can apply for funding between $250,000 and $600,000 per project.
Projects may focus on supporting small and family businesses, early-stage businesses and smaller operators. They may also help industries such as tourism, hospitality, retail and manufacturing improve their ability to grow.
The program is designed to give regional communities a stronger role in developing solutions that meet local needs. It will encourage partnerships between businesses, councils, industry groups and community organisations.
Applications for the first round are now open. Eligible projects must be based in regional Queensland, with expressions of interest closing on 17 July 2026.
