Central Queensland is set to benefit from a new $15 million training facility designed to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the clean energy sector. The CQ Renewable Energy Training Facility, located in Rockhampton, will provide specialized training for thousands of electrical tradespeople, apprentices, and high school students looking to build careers in renewable energy.
The state-of-the-art facility, operated by Electro Group Training, will focus on providing qualifications in renewable energy, as well as upgrading the skills of existing electricians to safely install, operate, and maintain solar, wind, hydrogen, and energy storage systems.
This facility is a significant part of Queensland’s strategy to build a clean energy workforce in line with the state’s ambitious energy plans, which include large-scale renewable energy projects. With training available for both new apprentices and experienced workers, the facility aims to support the thousands of jobs being created by projects across the region.
The CQ Renewable Energy Training Facility will be the first of its kind in regional Queensland, complementing Electro Group’s existing Brisbane-based facility. It will play a vital role in preparing workers for the booming clean energy job market in the region, helping to drive the state’s transition to a low-carbon future.
