Significant progress has been made at the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ), with the completion of Stage 2 civil works and the extension of Liberator Drive officially marked this week. These developments unlock an additional 155 hectares of industrial land, paving the way for new business opportunities in the Ballarat region.
The civil works and road extension were delivered by Winslow Constructors following competitive tender processes.
BWEZ is poised to generate around 1,200 jobs and attract approximately $171 million in private investment. Businesses including Field Air and John Valves are among the latest to establish operations within the zone, joining existing companies such as CHS Broadbent, Kane Transport, Luv-A-Duck, Westlab, and Athlegen.
Launched in 2015, the long-term development aims to transform over 400 hectares of Crown land into a thriving industrial precinct. To date, more than $45 million has been invested in infrastructure upgrades, alongside a $12 million residential development in the adjacent Acacia area. Additional funding from both state and federal governments has supported the creation of the Ballarat Freight Hub within the precinct.
With essential services like sewerage, drainage, electricity, gas, water, and NBN now installed on the newly opened land, the area is ready for business expansion and regional economic growth.
