The Queensland Government has committed more than $9 million to improve waste services in the Ipswich area to improve waste management and address community concerns.
The majority of the funding will facilitate the implementation of food and garden organic waste (FOGO) collection, including the distribution of lime green kerbside bins and kitchen caddies. It will also support bin harmonisation efforts and a community education programme.
The funding will also enable Ipswich City Council to transport collected waste to appropriate facilities to ensure odour management standards are met.
This investment underlines the Government's commitment to sustainable waste management and is in line with wider initiatives to reduce landfill waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions and support job creation.
