Western Australian manufacturers and industry stakeholders are being invited to share their insights to help shape the future of transmission manufacturing and servicing across the State.
The Department of Energy and Economic Diversification has opened a request for information to identify current capabilities, gaps, and opportunities in transmission manufacturing. The goal is to strengthen local industry, support new jobs, and prepare for the State’s growing role in clean energy production.
This initiative aligns with the South West Interconnected System Transmission Plan, which outlines major upgrades to transmission infrastructure across Western Australia. The plan supports the transition to renewable energy and aims to build a strong, resilient power network for the future.
Local businesses are being encouraged to explore new opportunities in the expanding energy sector. The transition to clean energy is creating demand for advanced manufacturing, new technologies, and specialised services.
As part of the Made in WA Plan, $75 million has been committed to growing transmission manufacturing supply chains in key industrial areas such as Picton and Forrestfield. This investment complements more than $1.6 billion already committed to upgrading Western Power’s transmission network, including the Clean Energy Link – North project.
Industry representatives and organisations interested in transmission manufacturing can submit their input through the Department’s Citizen Space Consultation Hub. Feedback will guide future strategies to build local capability and ensure Western Australia remains a leader in sustainable energy development.
