Improved snow season transport and SMS alerts introduced

Snow enthusiasts can look forward to an improved experience during the upcoming ski season, thanks to improvements introduced by the NSW Labor Government. These improvements include the expansion of the Snowy Mountains Bus Service and the introduction of a new SMS alert system.

Tickets are now on sale for the Snowy Mountains Bus Service, which has been expanded to include a route from Cooma to Jindabyne via Berridale. The service, which runs from 8 June to 6 October, with additional services during school holidays, has grown in popularity and is expected to carry more than 80,000 passengers in 2023.

As part of efforts to improve safety and convenience for all road users during the ski season, Transport for NSW has launched a subscription-based SMS alert service. Subscribers will receive alerts about closures on Kosciuszko Road or Alpine Way when car parks at ski resorts reach capacity. Alerts will be sent before, during and after closures.

These initiatives aim to provide snow enthusiasts with safer and more convenient transport options, while keeping them informed of road closures to allow for better travel planning.
