Gatton AgTech Showcase Highlights Next-Gen Farming Technology

Around 1,000 growers, researchers, and industry leaders have gathered in the Lockyer Valley for the 2025 Gatton AgTech Showcase. The event is held at the Gatton Smart Farm, a purpose-built hub for agricultural research and innovation.

State-of-the-art farming technology is on display, including in-field robotics, sensors, drones, and postharvest solutions. These innovations aim to help growers improve productivity, reduce labour costs, and meet global food demands.

A new $3.57 million Protected Cropping Centre for Mild Winter Climates has opened at the Smart Farm. The centre supports year-round cultivation of vegetables, fruits, and berries. It will create more opportunities for domestic and export markets.

Industry experts say the showcase helps growers stay up to date with emerging technology. High adoption of innovation is expected to add significant value to the horticulture sector. Autonomous technology is already transforming how farms operate and tackle workforce challenges.

The event is funded through horticulture research and development levies, contributions from the Australian Government, and co-investment from the Queensland Department of Primary Industries. It demonstrates a strong focus on increasing efficiency, productivity, and sustainability across the horticulture industry.
