Two new digital programs in NSW are helping homes get built faster by giving clear and up-to-date information on land and housing development.
The NSW Land Subdivision Pipeline dataset shows approved subdivision activity. Government agencies, local councils, developers, and buyers can see where new homes are planned. This information helps plan roads, schools, electricity, gas, and internet services.
Councils can assess development applications with a clear view of nearby projects. Buyers can track the progress of their subdivision and check approvals online. The dataset will grow to include 3D mapping and track housing from consent to occupation.
Survey plan lodgements are now fully online. Submissions for subdivisions, strata, and community schemes no longer require paper forms. About 13,000 deposited plans and 1,600 strata plans were lodged in 2023/24. Digital submission saves time and reduces delays.
These digital tools improve service delivery and support efficient housing development. The NSW Land Subdivision Pipeline is available through the Spatial Digital Twin Explorer, with data feeds on the NSW Spatial Collaboration Portal.
