WA innovators are now being encouraged to submit their applications for the prestigious Western Australia's Innovators of the Year 2024 awards.
Now in its 18th year, the annual competition has increased the prize pool to an unprecedented $240,000.
In addition to the increased prize money, the number of awards has been expanded, with the total number of innovators recognised increasing from 6 to 8.
In addition to the winners in the Emerging (pre-revenue) and Growth (post-revenue) categories, two runners-up will be selected, as well as three additional awards in the categories of New Energy, Wellbeing and Great for the State. These seven winners will share a prize pool of $240,000.
A new category, Government Innovator of the Year, has been introduced to recognise innovative public servants who contribute new products, services, technologies and innovations to the delivery of public services.
The awards serve as a platform to recognise and reward outstanding innovators in WA and highlight the diverse sectors in which they operate across the state.
Last year's overall winner of the WA Innovator of the Year was Portable PPB Pty Ltd for their high sensitivity gold detection innovation.
Many of last year's finalists and winners have attracted media attention for their achievements, providing significant publicity for their innovations.
This year's finalists will be unveiled in August and will then participate in an accelerator program designed to support the growth of their ideas and businesses.
