A new $40 million partnership between the Gorgon Joint Venture and Western Australia aims to drive the development of green technologies and reduce carbon emissions. This partnership will establish a GreenTech Hub and a Lower Carbon Grants Program Fund to accelerate green innovation and contribute to decarbonising the state’s economy.
The GreenTech Hub, supported by $4 million over four years, will focus on advancing green technologies and services in the region. Modeled after existing innovation hubs, the GreenTech Hub will nurture entrepreneurship, build local capacity, and support the commercialization of green technologies. It aims to position Western Australia as a leader in sustainable and renewable energy solutions.
The Lower Carbon Grants Program will provide funding for innovative projects that contribute to reducing carbon emissions. These efforts align with the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with a focus on developing industries that leverage the state's natural assets to create sustainable, renewable technologies.
Both the GreenTech Hub and the grants program are expected to create jobs and help grow expertise in green technologies, fostering new industries and skills for a more sustainable future.
Expressions of interest to operate the GreenTech Hub are now open, with more details available through the official portal.
