Experts Sought for New AI Advisory Board in Western Australia

Western Australia is looking for qualified individuals to become part of its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Advisory Board. The board will provide expert guidance on the safe and responsible use of AI in government, ensuring that AI tools and data-driven systems are designed, implemented, and used in an ethical and secure manner.

The newly established advisory board will support the implementation of Western Australia's AI Policy and Assurance Framework, which sets the standard for AI use within the public sector. It aims to mitigate potential risks associated with AI technologies while prioritizing ethics, data privacy, and human rights.

The board will be made up of experts with experience in AI technology, ethics, data governance, and risk regulation. Members will come from diverse backgrounds, including those with expertise in technology, human rights, and privacy law, as well as industry leaders from high-impact sectors. The board will also be focused on promoting inclusivity, with particular emphasis on ensuring diverse perspectives, including those from people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and other marginalized groups.

The advisory board will play a key role in shaping AI policy and overseeing AI projects across the state's public sector, helping to ensure that AI is used in a way that aligns with ethical standards and benefits the broader community.

Applications for the board are open until 4pm on Monday, 25 November 2024.
