The Statewide Wi-Fi Access Program (SWAP) is expanding its reach, enabling more Tasmanians to connect to free public Wi-Fi.
The expansion will include public hospitals, community health centres, Service Tasmania shops, libraries and regional offices, providing greater connectivity across Tasmania.
The rollout of new locations will begin in January and February 2024.
Free Wi-Fi access is a commitment to digital inclusion and improving connectivity, in line with the Government's Our Digital Future strategy.
Initiatives such as providing free Wi-Fi in schools, libraries and major hospitals aim to address the challenges of digital accessibility and promote connectivity across the country.
The establishment of public Wi-Fi networks in strategic locations further facilitates connectivity and supports economic and social engagement.
With the rising cost of living, free public Wi-Fi serves as a vital resource, ensuring access to communication, information and community interaction.
