Queensland will soon be home to a new TAFE Centre of Excellence focused on clean energy and battery technologies. This initiative will deliver cutting-edge training to develop a highly skilled workforce to meet the growing demand for clean energy solutions. The TAFE Queensland Centre of Excellence – Clean Energy (Batteries) will provide specialized training in renewable energy batteries, grid storage, electric vehicles, and more.
The centre will offer accelerated apprenticeship pathways, including higher-level apprenticeships and degree-equivalent programs. These training courses will cover the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy systems and batteries, preparing workers for the national transition to a clean energy future and net zero emissions.
The Centre of Excellence will collaborate with TAFE campuses, universities, industry stakeholders, and unions to drive innovation in clean energy training and expand the number of apprentices across the renewable energy sector. It will also build on existing partnerships, such as with Queensland University of Technology, to develop new programs and course materials.
By focusing on emerging clean energy technologies and developing a skilled workforce, the centre plays a critical role in helping Queensland and Australia meet the growing demand for green energy professionals and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
