Western Australia has secured a $140 million investment to strengthen its digital capability, speed up land development approvals and streamline the delivery of key infrastructure projects.
The Spatial WA initiative, supported by the State Government's Digital Capability Fund, has been developed by Landgate in consultation with more than 30 State Government agencies.
The Spatial WA digital platform is designed to maximise the value of the State's data by creating a spatially accurate 4D virtual representation of the built and natural environment. This initiative supports key government objectives in infrastructure delivery, planning reform and emergency preparedness.
The use of this technology enables the fusion of spatial and non-spatial data, facilitating analytical insights, predictive modelling and the optimisation of digital workflows, potentially resulting in significant cost savings for the state.
By providing accurate location data on roads, structures, networks, pipelines and other infrastructure assets across government agencies, Spatial WA will speed up planning application processes, improve maintenance efficiency, streamline land development, accelerate approvals and enhance community engagement in infrastructure projects.
The $140 million over ten years will be disbursed through the State Government's Digital Capability Fund.
