- Network growth continues with addition of latest charger
- EV network plays integral role in promoting sustainable transport
Kalgoorlie-Boulder is now integrated into the WA EV Network with a 150kW fast charger and a 22kW back-up charger, made possible through a collaboration between Synergy and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, allowing electric vehicle drivers to travel to Kalgoorlie-Boulder with charging points available in Merredin, Southern Cross and Coolgardie.
The WA EV Network now has 27 operational charging stations, with the next station due to open soon in Margaret River.
The extensive network is expected to be substantially complete by mid-2024, with 49 EV charging points strategically located within an average distance of less than 200km, creating one of the most extensive vehicle charging networks in the world.
Using the South West Interconnected System, an EV charger integrated into WA's primary electricity grid is estimated to produce approximately 30% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than a conventional petrol vehicle.
