State-owned CleanCo Queensland has unveiled its vision for a clean energy hub at the Ipswich energy precinct, featuring a 250MW battery and community co-design elements. The initiative is part of the Palaszczuk Government's Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
CleanCo is initiating an Expression of Interest (EOI) process and actively seeking community input to evaluate and progress the development of the Swanbank Clean Energy Hub. The proposed hub will include components such as solar, battery storage and green hydrogen.
Crucial to this initiative is the engagement of the Ipswich community to ensure their perspectives help shape a clean energy future, alongside considerations for site restoration, including the creation of an ecological corridor and recreational spaces.
This marks the first phase of Swanbank's transformation into a Clean Energy Hub, which aims to create more highly skilled local jobs through clean energy innovation, complemented by state-of-the-art community facilities.
