A local Mackay region family business, Twin Hills Engineering and Drilling, has been awarded a key contract for the shallow geotechnical drilling program for the Pioneer-Burdekin pumped hydro energy storage project, a key initiative of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
Water2Wire, a Queensland-based joint venture with a strong presence in Mackay, has been selected for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) component of the project.
These announcements mark significant progress in the development of the nation-building Pioneer-Burdekin project, which will support more than 3,000 jobs during peak construction. The proposed project aims to create the world's largest pumped hydro energy storage facility, providing Queenslanders with 5GW of clean, reliable and affordable 24-hour electricity supply and storage..
