The prestigious WA Innovator of the Year awards have crowned Portable PPB Pty Ltd as the overall winner for their cutting-edge portable gold detector. The highly sensitive detector stood out among a competitive field of 17 finalists.
The awards, which feature a $220,000 prize pool, highlight the diverse range of innovative solutions being developed across industries in Western Australia. The six winners showcase breakthroughs in fields such as healthcare, energy, and security, demonstrating the state's growing reputation as a hub for technological innovation.
The 2023 winners in each category include:
- Earflo: Winner of the Rio Tinto Emerging Innovation Category for their device designed to treat chronic ear infections in children at home.
- Leisure Technologies Pty Ltd: Winner of the Rio Tinto Growth Innovation Category for their wireless towing and anti-theft system.
- Reliis Ltd: Winner of the Business News 'Great for the State' Platinum Award for their Aqueous Quetiapine solution.
- Inspiring Holdings Pty Ltd: Winner of the Wesfarmers Wellbeing Platinum Award for their Novel Universal Spacer System.
- Innovation Energy Solutions: Winner of the Woodside Energy Platinum Award for Energy Innovation for their autonomous solar cleaning robotics system.
