More than 98,000 Queenslanders can now leave their wallets behind when they go out, whether it's to the beach, a club, on the water or even overseas, with the Queensland Government's new Digital Licence.
After thorough privacy and information security assessments, a controlled rollout and a minor bump in the road, the Queensland Digital Licence is approaching 100,000 downloads.
This digital licence is the only one in Australia to meet international standards for mobile driver licences and has enhanced security features. Users are able to share only the information they need, protecting their personal information and giving them control over who receives the information and when.
A standalone Digital Licence Verifier app is available for businesses and organisations, allowing them to confidently scan their customers' Digital Licence Apps and ensure the authenticity of the information provided.
The app ensures the privacy and security of personal information by encrypting it on the user's device and making it accessible only with a PIN set during installation. Developed in partnership with defence security company Thales and local Queensland companies Code Heroes and Aliva, the app has been designed by Queenslanders for Queenslanders.
To get your digital licence, simply search for 'Queensland Digital Licence' in your iOS or Android app store, download the app, create your Queensland Digital Identity (QDI) and you're ready to go.
