A $6 million program jointly funded by the NSW Government and the NRMA is nearing completion with the installation of 25 new electric vehicle fast chargers in regional NSW.
The initiative, which aims to promote greener and cleaner travel, will expand the NRMA's charging network to more than 100 locations, creating the most comprehensive regional charging network in the country.
The dual chargers, ranging from 50kW to 150kW, are strategically located along key regional corridors including the Newell, Barrier, New England and Kamilaroi highways, as well as completing links on the Castlereagh, Hume and Kings highways.
The latest rollout in north-west NSW includes chargers at Inverell, Narrabri, Moree and Dorrigo, with another at Walcha due to be operational by the end of the month. The programme also covers a number of other sites and, due to programme efficiencies, an additional site in Moruya will be installed in 2024.
This initiative is in line with the NSW Government's commitment to expanding EV infrastructure, complemented by the recent announcement of $10 million in funding through the Destination Charging Program to install around 3,000 EV chargers at tourist destinations across the state.
