Digital working with children check adoption surge

More than 150,000 Victorians have embraced the convenience and security of the digital Working With Children Check (WWCC) card by integrating it into the user-friendly and secure wallet feature available on the Service Victoria app. This streamlined approach provides individuals with a quick and confidential way to present their registration.

Minister for Government Services Gabrielle Williams encouraged all WWCC cardholders to take advantage of the Service Victoria app, highlighting the ease of adding the card to their digital wallet.

The WWCC card now joins a list of 7 other cards that Victorians can seamlessly add to their digital wallet, including ambulance membership, fishing licences, veterans and senior discount cards. The Allan Labor Government also plans to introduce more cards this year, including a digital driver's licence.

By downloading the Service Victoria app, people can conveniently access more than 130 government services and receive important updates, such as the upcoming launch of Victoria's digital driver's licence.

In addition, the Service Victoria app and website provide a centralised platform for individuals to effortlessly apply for, update and renew their WWCC. Consolidating all WWCC-related information and services in one place improves the user experience.

Since 2018, Service Victoria has continuously enhanced WWCC services and features, including options for cardholders to update their personal information, request a replacement card, obtain a PDF copy of their card, and retrieve their card number.

In addition, Service Victoria streamlines processes for organisations, allowing them to scan the QR code on digital cards via the app to instantly check the status of WWCCs in real time and perform bulk checks on up to 1,500 WWCCs at a time.

For existing WWCC holders who would like to upgrade to a digital card, the Service Victoria app is readily available for download from the App Store or Google Play Store. Support is also available through the Service Victoria website at service.vic.gov.au
