Delivering a Stronger Digital Future for Queenslanders

Queensland is investing more than $300 million in major digital projects to improve government systems and deliver better services for the community.

The investment is part of a new digital governance and assurance process designed to ensure public funds are used effectively. The new framework will review and monitor major digital and information technology projects across government.

The Digital Queensland Investment and Assurance Committees will assess all new digital and ICT investments valued above $5 million, including projects supported through the $1 billion Queensland Government Digital Fund.

The new process aims to improve planning, reduce duplication, and ensure digital projects provide clear benefits for Queensland communities.

The funding will support the modernisation of important government systems and improve services in areas such as healthcare, disaster response, natural resource management, licensing, and regulatory services.

Projects will be assessed based on their public value, ability to reduce risks, and alignment with government priorities. The approach will help agencies work together and develop more connected digital solutions.

The investment follows a strengthened review and planning process led by relevant government departments. It focuses on replacing outdated systems, improving customer experiences, and supporting essential services.

The new whole-of-government approach aims to create a more efficient and secure digital government system, with stronger oversight and clearer accountability for digital spending.

The initiative is expected to help Queensland deliver more reliable online services while ensuring technology investments are carefully planned and managed.
