The winners of the 2023 Innovation Challenge in Education were announced today, highlighting exceptional problem-solving and innovation among students.

Through an online showcase, the top three teams were recognised for their inventive solutions to real-world problems.

Bob Hawke College took first place, winning $5,000 for their app to tackle traffic congestion in the Matthew's Netball Centre car park.

Denmark Senior High School came second, winning $3,000 for their interactive art installation aimed at reducing plastic pollution in the ocean.

Exmouth District High School took third place and a $2,000 prize for their immersive VR experience promoting sustainable tourism.

Thirty teams of Year 8 students from public schools across Western Australia took part in this year's challenge, which promotes innovation and leadership skills.
