A collaboration between the Albanese and Palaszczuk Labor Governments will see an unprecedented investment of almost $117 million to advance the Central Queensland Hydrogen (CQ-H2) project in Gladstone.
The establishment of a green hydrogen export industry in Gladstone promises significant economic prospects for Queensland, with the creation of almost 9,000 jobs and the generation of more than $17.2 billion in hydrogen exports over the 30-year life of the project.
The CQ-H2 project aims to produce 800 tonnes of clean, green hydrogen per day by the early 2030s, enough to power more than double Australia's heavy vehicle fleet.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) will provide $20 million in funding, with an additional $15 million from the Palaszczuk Government and the remaining $81.8 million from consortium partners committed to advancing green hydrogen.
